Paroikia & West Paros

Paroikia is home to the main port of Paros. With a wide selection of shops, tavernas, restaurants, cafes, and bars, it’s the island’s main town. The old town, typically Cycladic with its rows of white houses punctuated by some Venetian-style buildings and the domes of churches, remains very pleasant. One can get lost around the old streets around the market street that goes up to a lovely Venetian Kastro built in 1260 with materials recovered from a nearby temple of Athena whose remains remain visible in the wall. There are some nice beaches within walking distance and regular buses from the main bus station at the port, that go all over the island. There are also regular small passenger boats to the beaches across the bay and nearby Antiparos.
